This past month I had the opportunity to get away and cross off two states on the LONG list of destinations I wish to travel. Since visiting the west coast this past September on my honeymoon I’ve been eagerly awaiting my next visit. I have to admit, I didn’t imagine I would be heading back so soon, but sometimes you just can’t control that wanderlust!!
Back in September my husband and I decided to take our honeymoon and drive the coast of California from San Francisco to Laguna Beach. This is where a simple vacation commenced into a complete obsession with the Pacific North West (PNW).
Our first destination was Cannon Beach in Northern Portland.
From Cannon Beach we traveled south down the coast of Portland headed toward Cougar Hot Spring.
With the light dusting of snow, Cougar reservoir in Willamette National Forest was the most beautiful part of the entire trip. The views were absolutely breathtaking and made for some prime photography opportunities. Despite the abundance of naked men, the experience of Cougar Hot Spring was definitely worth the 10 hours of driving.
Eager to see everything we could on our travels we took the scenic route through the mountains up to Washington State.
On the way to Forks we made a couple stops along the coast at Ruby’s Beach and La Push.
Hoh Rain Forest was another beautiful location for a little detour. It’s basically always raining in Oregon and Washington which makes for beautiful moss covered trees.
Finally we reached Tye Haus a beautiful a-frame cabin in the mountains of Steven’s Pass, WA.
Overall we covered over 2000km and the trip was unreal. On the way home we stopped at the famous Rowena Lookout for one last photo opportunity before heading back to Canada.
